Copyright and License

Distribution, Use, and License

Upon acceptance and publication of a manuscript, authors grant the Publisher an exclusive license to reproduce, publish, distribute, and disseminate the material in all formats and media, whether currently known or developed in the future. This license enables the Publisher to ensure the proper management, preservation, visibility, and integrity of the scholarly record.

The published content may be accessed, downloaded, and used for individual, educational, and academic purposes, including research, teaching, and private study. Unless otherwise specified by the applicable license, the material may not be used for commercial purposes, nor may it be reproduced, distributed, or redistributed for profit, advertising, or commercial exploitation.

Any commercial use, large-scale distribution, reproduction, translation, adaptation, or redistribution of the published material requires prior written permission from the Publisher. Such requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The specific conditions governing reuse, redistribution, or modification of the content may vary depending on the license selected by the author at the time of publication.

Authors’ Rights and Open Access Options

Notwithstanding the exclusive license granted to the Publisher, authors retain important rights to use and disseminate their work. Under the Journal Licence, authors are permitted to reuse their published articles for their own non-commercial purposes without the need to seek additional permission from the Publisher.

Permitted uses include, but are not limited to:

  • Sharing the article with colleagues for scholarly purposes

  • Using the article in teaching, lectures, or academic presentations

  • Including the article in a thesis, dissertation, or academic portfolio

  • Depositing preprints or postprints in personal or institutional repositories, where permitted

The only requirement for such reuse is that authors provide a full and accurate citation to the original publication in Genetics and Clinical Genomics, including a direct link to the published version of record when available.

The journal supports responsible Open Access practices and offers licensing options that promote accessibility while protecting the rights of authors and the Publisher. Authors are encouraged to review the journal’s licensing policies carefully to select the option that best aligns with their dissemination goals and institutional or funding requirements.
