Archiving and Digital Preservation

Genetics and Clinical Genomics is firmly committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, stability, and continued accessibility of all scholarly content it publishes. The journal recognizes that permanent access to the scientific record is essential for the advancement of research, clinical practice, and academic integrity, and therefore implements robust digital archiving strategies to safeguard its publications.

All published articles are preserved through inclusion in Portico, a trusted and internationally recognized digital preservation service that provides a secure, independent archive for scholarly content. Portico ensures that journal content remains accessible to the academic community over time, even in the event of technological changes, publisher transitions, or unforeseen disruptions to the journal’s operations.

In addition to international digital preservation services, the journal deposits its published content with the Biblioteca Nacional de Panamá, providing a national-level archival record that guarantees permanent preservation under public stewardship. This dual preservation approach—combining global digital archiving with national institutional deposit—reinforces the journal’s commitment to the durability and reliability of the scholarly record.

These archiving arrangements collectively ensure that all articles published in Genetics and Clinical Genomics remain permanently available to researchers, clinicians, libraries, and academic institutions, regardless of future changes to the journal’s publication model or platform. In the unlikely event that the journal ceases publication, its archived content will continue to be accessible through the designated preservation systems.

By maintaining multiple, independent preservation mechanisms, Genetics and Clinical Genomics aligns with best practices in scholarly publishing and meets the expectations of libraries, indexing services, and research institutions for long-term digital preservation and content integrity.
